Languages Policy Partnership - Meeting #9
The Languages Policy Partnership (LPP) held its 9th meeting on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country (Canberra) at the start of March.
The meeting was opened with a warm Welcome to Country by Dr Caroline Hughes AM.
The group heard from the National Library of Australia (NLA) staff on their work to understand, enhance and make the collections accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A discussion was also had with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) on collaboration and alignment for the upcoming Fourth National Indigenous Languages Survey (NILS), set to be undertaken in late 2025.
The partnership heard updates from its working groups, updates on its 3 national commissioning projects, discussed the 2025 work plan, further developed its data policy position on Target 16, further developed the upcoming evaluation of the LPP, and heard reports from representatives about their work to progress the LPP’s priorities and recommendations to the Joint Council.
