The language sector is growing, and the strength of the sector will depend on the efforts of people with a diverse range of skills. In the coming years, our sector will need more people with skills in yarning, project management, advocacy, event coordination, collections management, data sovereignty, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property, health, justice, teaching and learning, research, administration, media, and more.
The work of the language advocates from past generations, and recent years, has opened the door to opportunities currently presented. While language-focused jobs have been rare in the past, we are working toward a future where our sector is broad and language jobs are commonplace.
We need people with different skills working together for our languages to be strong. People who are great at picking up the phone for a chat, admin, events, socials, writing policy papers, media, legal, teaching and learning - the language sector needs you!

Senior Program Officer
First Nations Languages Education (FNLE)
Join First Nations language education. In this flexible 12-month fixed-term role, you'll work alongside communities, government partners, and our dedicated team to deliver, promote and evaluate the First Nations Languages Education program.
You'll support language teacher training, troubleshoot community barriers, and contribute to advocacy and sector strengthening - all in service of communities whose languages are being spoken, revived, and protected.

Executive Assistant
Support the CEO of Australia's national peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.
In this full-time role, you'll be the trusted right hand of our Chief Executive - managing complex schedules, coordinating governance, and keeping our executive operations running with care and precision.
You'll bring discretion, initiative, and strong relationship skills to a team driving meaningful change for language communities across the country.

Policy Officer
Languages Policy Partnership (LPP) Secretariat
Shape national policy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.
As Policy Officer in the Languages Policy Partnership Secretariat, you'll work at the intersection of government, community, and advocacy - supporting the LPP's work under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap to strengthen and grow languages by 2031.
In this full-time role, you'll contribute to policy development, stakeholder engagement, meeting coordination, and strategic communications across a small, collaborative team.
