Election promotions

In 2022, the ABC began working with language custodians to produce election broadcast coverage. Each election, the ABC makes about eight ‘colour patches’ for their results programming — these are pretty pictures from electorates around the country. In previous years, the program’s host has read a description of the electorate featured (For example, ‘This is the seat of Barton, held by the Minster for Indigenous Australians since 2016. The division of Barton was created in 1922 and named after Sir Edmund Barton, the first Prime Minister of Australia’, etc). For the first time this year, the coverage shared custodians’ interpretation of their regions in their languages. You can watch the first five promotions here: https://vimeo.com/channels/1824297
