Call for Performers- Garil Jagun song series
We are thrilled to bring the news that the ABC will once again partner with First Languages Australia to record a series of First Nations Children’s Songs, this time with a theme of Country or Place. Titled “Garal Jagun” - Many Places, this ABC Education series will have links with the national geography curriculum.
We are looking for songs that in some way relate to your country or a special landmark. The song should appeal to children from six to ten years and be easy to learn. It can be either in your own language, or English with some language words. If not yet translated, we can help you to include your language into the song.
As with Yarrabil and Yarrabil Bula, there will be six songs chosen from around the country, and performers will be brought to a capital city for the recording.
Important note: You need to own permission for use of the song, either because you have written it yourself or because it is a traditional song in broad community use with no copyright restrictions. Having multiple copyright owners of a song isn’t suitable for this project.
How to apply: Please fill out this Expression of Interest form (it’s simple to do) before the 12th December.
