Sector strengthening roles
Over the next two years, we will be consulting with communities across Australia to prepare a plan to strengthen the languages sector. To support this process, we are looking two new excellent and community connected people to support this work.
Callout for performers - Yarrabil First Nations Kids Songs
If you have your own children’s song that includes your language, or you are a performer who would enjoy the chance to sing one of the songs chosen for the program, please send us a video of yourself singing (and playing if you are also a musician). A short video from your phone is fine.
Yarrabil: First Nations Songs
ABC and First Languages Australia have announced the launch of Yarrabil, First Nations Children’s Songs Series, made in collaboration with ABC Education.
Working toward a national interpreting and translating framework
Through the coming months, First Languages Australia will begin work with Aboriginal Interpreting WA and relevant states and territories, toward a national framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander interpreting.
Collections work update
First Languages Australia remains a partner in the Language Data Commons of Australia (LDaCA).
First Nations Languages Education Program
The First Nations Languages Education Program opened to applications in March 2024.
