Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Language
The Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Language Revitalisation offered by the University of Queensland (UQ) is open for applications for their mid-year intake.
Semester 2 starts on 28 July.
Over the course of the one-year program learners develop knowledge and hands-on skills to analyse, research, teach and learn their languages. They will also build a critical awareness of the social, cultural and political issues important to languages, language advocates and language professionals.
First Languages Australia staff members, Ella Woods and Mollie O’Connor, are part of the 2024 learner cohort. Ella described her experience:
“The course weaves together the technical knowledge we need to work on our languages, with the lessons and perspectives we bring with us from our communities and personal experiences. Having the opportunity to learn from and with an incredible group of people who are all equally passionate about our languages has been such a valuable experience.”
